Since the inauguration of the Society in 1977 the number of members has steadily increased each year. The great majority of members reside in Britain, but the membership also extends to Europe (Holland, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and France), a small group in North America, and an encouraging number in the Caribbean itself. All campuses of the University of the West Indies, and the Universities of Guyana, Puerto Rico and Havana, receive the Society's Newsletter.
