Selected Conference Papers from the Society for Caribbean Studies annual conference and Northern Research Seminars are published online. As a result of editing the Society's conference papers online, Sandra Courtman published "Beyond the Blood, The Beach and The Banana: New Perspectives in Caribbean Studies" (Jamaica: Ian Randle, 2004). A Society initiative, jointly with the University of London ICS/ILAS Caribbean Studies Programme, is a UK Directory of Teaching and Research in Caribbean Studies (1993), a companion volume to the UK Latin American Studies Directory. The Newsletter was initiated in November 1977 as a means of rapid and inexpensive communication with members. Two issues are produced annually, and the Society has been fortunate to have them produced under the auspices of the editor's Institution.
